| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Basic Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences demystifies and fully explains statistics without leaving out relevant topics or simply presenting formulas, in a format that is non-threatening and inviting to students. Gary Heiman has written a textbook--clearly, patiently, and with an occasional touch of humor--that teaches students not only how to compute an answer on demand, but also why they should perform the procedure or what their answer reveals about the data. Heiman has achieved five objectives in writing this text: to take a conceptual-intuitive approach, to present statistics within an understandable research context, to deal directly and positively with student weaknesses in mathematics, to introduce new terms and concepts in an integrated way, and to create a text that students will enjoy as well as learn from!

| Customer Reviews: Textbook used for quantitative methods August 24, 2009 Nancy M. Lively (Wadley, GA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This textbook did explain the basics very well. Unfortunately, the formulas we were asked to use were different than the textbook required for this class. That made the book harder to learn from.
I needed this book February 18, 2009 D. Washington (White Plains, NY) Even though I needed this book for class..It really does help you..and it teachs you how to use SPSS... Explains things very well!!
Pretty easy to understand! March 19, 2001 This was a pretty easy-to-follow and understand textbook. Sometimes, though, the language is a little too basic, and makes the reader feel as if he were a child. Overall, the book was written clearly and made learning statistics a lot more bearable.
