5 out of 5 stars The real truth behind our food.   November 21, 2008

This book was an eye opener for me. I started to look at the ingredient listings on what I thought was healthy food in my house and was shocked and horrified over what I saw. This book helps you determine what additives are safe and which ones are not. A quick read. Simple and clear cut on what is good and what is bad for you. This book has changed the way I eat,the way I shop and what I feed my family. The cook book is great. I am so glad I got the box set and not just the one book. The recipes are a great start on how to prepare good meals for your family. I like the tough love type of concept behind the book.

4 out of 5 stars Funny!   October 7, 2008

This is a funny, crude book that is often shocking. It teaches about veganism and is enough to motivate a person to become one. But, I got over it about a week later.

5 out of 5 stars Glad I read it!   October 4, 2008

I read a lot of reviews before I picked up this book. A lot of people complained at the manner in which it was written. I am not easily offended, so I found this book a lot of fun to read because of it's straight up honesty. I felt it was very motivating to make changes in my life.

I've made a few of the recipes in the cookbook. And the food is delicious. I could eat that club sandwich for lunch everyday and not get bored with it. It's amazing the difference you feel when you start reading ingredients and choosing such healthy food.

And to those who say that these women are basically making you starve yourself with this food...I have to disagree 100%. The food is delicious and good for you. It still has calories you need, just less fat calories that you don't. And most of this food is cholesterol free.

Needless to say. This book has made me change the way I look at food, and I feel a lot better for it.

4 out of 5 stars Well done   September 30, 2008

This book is a great answer to the problem of connecting veganism to modern day, trendy, youth culture.

It's not too hippie-ish or off the main stream like you often find with some veg cook books. It's hip, no holds barred, and easy to read. Young women won't even necessarily realize they're eating sans cruelty - they'll just think they're having fun reading and cooking yummy, healthy food.

The potato & pumpkin curry is to die for!

5 out of 5 stars Best Read Yet   September 23, 2008

If you are tired of being lied to about the facts, then you need to read Skinny Bitch. It will open your eyes to what you thought you knew, and clarify the questions you may have. Don't be upset, there is some swearing, but their book clearly denotes a "tough love" approach. Enjoy!
