Best product available to serve the spectrum February 9, 2010 THATCH (OHIO) This is the best product available to serve the widest gambit of people who may have an interest. You could almost think this application was made by Apple. Highly recommended.
Awesome drawing program @ a great price! February 1, 2010 Joe Chaim This software is a MUST for all digital artists who use a tablet or tablet-style input device. I purchased a ModBook (Axiotron conversion of a MacBook), and I ran into endless problems with Photoshop Elements. I tried the free download "trial" of Sketchbook Pro, and was quickly hooked! This has got to be the most intuitive and affordable graphics program I have ever seen.
The only thing I see that it lacks is the ability to input letters. (I am a cartoonist who adds captions to my illustrations.)

Absolute failure on Mac OS Snow Leopard January 21, 2010 Steve Wehba (Carlsbad, CA USA) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Purchased product from Amazon. CD appears not to have a label burned into it. So, it will not mount with Snow Leopard. This is a known issue with Snow Leopard. Went ahead and purchased a second copy from the AutoDesk online store. Installed fine. New issue is that pen tracks intermittently with Wacom Intuos4 tablet. Called Wacom. They acknowledged that this is a SketchBook bug that appears only on Macs. After 45 minutes online with various folks at AutoDesk, I finally talked to a support person who also acknowledged that it was a bug with SketchBook Pro on the Mac. Until it's fixed the software is pretty awkward and frustrating to use on a Mac. Having said that, I give it 1 star because it is a very slick package (if and when it works).
And there's more...During my interaction with the numerous folks at Autodesk, they commented that my software wasn't registered. They directed me to a registration website. I filled out the registration forms and soon received an email from Autodesk instructing me how to complete the registration process within the product itself. Unfortunately, the instructions were apparently written for a Windows product and did not correspond to the layout of a Mac menu bar or dialog boxes. When I pointed that out to them, they claimed I actually installed version 4.1 instead of 2010. I found that odd, because the folder it installed into was labeled "2010." Nonetheless, I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it, screenshotting every step in the process. Every single link, window, dialog, and form displayed "2010." The product again installed into a "2010" folder. But, on launching it, the dialog box still displayed "4.1." Apparently, either the wrong software version was written to the installation CD (and online store website), or "4.1" refers to the internal version of the "2010" software. In either case, the Autodesk team was of no assistance and obviously is completely unfamiliar with at least the Mac version of the software. What a nightmare!
Digital Sketching the Right way - The future of Tablet applications January 12, 2010 Alan C. Bryant (Decatur, Ga USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is extremely rare that a company can go out on a limb and experiment with Usability and it be successful. The world of digital art is littered with examples of failed attempts with zBrush being the latest example of a bad attempt for a noble goal. As a word of warning Sketchbook Pro has been designed for use with a tablet so it does not make sense to use it any other way. Where it really shines is with the Cintiq.
The UI is at first startlingly bare. There is an icon based menu bar at the bottom left corner with a couple of palettes being initially visible but other than that the majority of the space is dedicated to the drawing surface. Palettes and tool menus are accessible through a "right click" of the pen or through the menu bar at the bottom. There is no interruption of the flow by the need to use the keyboard or selecting options through text based drop down menus. The most commonly used functionality is just a swipe away.
The UI might take a little while to get the hang of, maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and then you will find yourself loving the folks who thought this one up.
The price on Amazon is about 20% cheaper than the price offered through the AutoDesk site. As a side note I also love the iPhone Sketchbook app. While it is much harder to draw with your thumb it is great to have handy when an idea comes along and you are out and away from your computer and don't want to sketch out your idea on a napkin. As far as iPhone apps go it is my favorite.
This program absolutely ROCKS January 7, 2010 M. Jarrell (Temecula ,CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just received this program and I have to say for pure digital drawing it can not be beat. It takes no time to learn and works seamlessly with Photoshop CS4. I use with a Wacom Intuos3 it also work great with my sons Wacom Bamboo pen. I like it better than my more expensive Corel Painter 11 program. Don't even think twice on purchasing this product you will not be disappointed.
