If you just want a reference while painting, you can pin an image to your canvas and scale, rotate and position it as desired. Put down as many stencils as you like, then paint over them and create unique, precise shapes. Place rulers and create straight lines or smooth curves. Add paint to a layer and quickly convert it to your own custom stencil. Metallics The Metallic Paint option gives you spreadable, blendable gold and silver oil paints, sparkling glitter, silver leaf sprays and more. Any tool can be switched to Metallic mode for a wide range of incredible effects. Metallic paint still smears, smudges and blends with the regular paint. Great art software!! March 15, 2010 C. Tessler (Elgin, IL) I was quite nervous about getting this software but once i got it then I got the tablet i was able to draw and i love it!! On one cd rom disk it has all it says on there from tutorials to videos on how to draw giving creative ideas to those to inspire to draw and i watched mainly the dragon video and it gave me some creative thoughts on how to improve my drawings and they are working well!! This software is a must have for anyone who wants to draw!!
ARTRage 2.5 is a very creative program March 7, 2010 Cam I have worked in fine art media as well as computer graphic programs. ArtRage 2.5 is like virtual painting but it is a creative process not a passive one. I enjoy the variety of fun tools with a comfortable interface. I would recommend this program to beginners as well as pros. Includes helpful tutorials.
Artrage is artragous February 12, 2010 Paul (Akron Ohio) Amaizing product for someone just starting out with a digital drawing tablet like a Bamboo or a Wacom. Simple to use and amazing results. The tracing feature makes everyone a Rembrant. I have upgraded to ArtRage Pro. If you love computer art, you won't be disipointed. Better than the software that came with my drawing pad.
Not your Windows Paint January 31, 2010 S. White 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It really is a pity Photoshop and few others get all the attention is the world of art software. While perusing a program to kick around with my new tablet I saw this in the recommendations. First of all I was shocked by the price. Second of all I was shocked when I found it to be both powerful enough to hold it's own against Photoshop and others. Here is a very pure take on doing art on a computer. Don't look for cut and paste, lasso, or other things you see in a bare bones Paint. You have a variety of canvases, a wide selection of art tools, and for the most part, you're expected to treated like the real things. Well, not quite. There are settings you can play with like if paints blend as you work, and it allows you to play with layering and transparency, and the stenciling function is neat. If you want to make art, seriously or just for fun, this is a great choice.
no Select and Fill toll January 16, 2010 Fred and Vilma (Dallas, Tx, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Make sure you understand that this is version 2.5, which lacks the basic drawing tools, and in no way comparable to Corel Painter where you have hundreds of ways to customize at least 50 tools.
This version being without the basic Fill and Select ability, is virtually useless.
The more useful version would be the Studio, which includes the basics and is $40 on it's website.
Please see this link for comparison of the ArtRage versions.
