Yeah, Great Stuff ... But Where is a NEW VERSION??? August 18, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have used this software for years now, and love it dearly for songwriting and recording, but am starting to grow weary of waiting for an upgrade. I watch others (Ableton, Digidesign, MOTU) continuously upgrade their software while Logic Pro just sort of......well.......is.
If Apple wanted to, they could blow Pro Tools and all the other DAW software out of the water.
I'm waiting.....
essential survival tool ! ! ! January 11, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
LOGIC PRO's really a gift from the Gods... going beyond mere MIDI sequencing its your all in one at home sequencer, recorder, sound editor and music synthesizer... in other words, it does just about everything... and between "work", the plug-in synths are so FUN to play with. Even if you don't know much about sound synthesis just play with the buttons and knobs, then pretend you're in your own episode of Dr. Who or that your mind is being tortured and controlled by Space Aliens who like to carry the Mothers of Invention around in their vehicles... In fact, the plug-in manual is also a great introductory text book in elementary sound synthesis and how many classic analog/FM synths work and are used - - even there history. Yes, LOGIC has it all... in addition, its a stable program that runs on stable platform, hence if your computer is up to par with it no constant crashy-crashy / freezy-freezy... One catch though: as the price implies, its really not for dabblers... it does require quite a bit of study - - and if you don't have the time (or experience to figure it out and avoid the manual) there's lot's of other freeware/shareware type software out there that you can use - - they won't be able to do most of the stuff that LOGIC does, nor will you have to learn it, so the trade off is fair - - in addition, you won't get the incredible plug-ins - - including a whole room full of retro-synths and keyboards, including your own B3, complete with drawbars... and some mean sounding Clav, Rhodes and retro synths.
All in all, I think its amazing... this is a product that costs about half the price of a pro mix down at a studio... and definitely only a fraction of the price of many of the instruments who's sounds it can convincingly replicate you can use it to do the same - - the catch being that this program is no more efficient than the skills of the person using it... meaning if you have the time to REALLY learn it most people would say that Logic Pro *is* the way to go !
