Buyer beware! October 1, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is less a review than a warning. First of all, buying this game in used condition is utterly pointless - unless you want to buy it as a coaster, because that's what you'll get. Once activated, it's useless. Welcome to the world of modern PC gaming!
One another note, trying to get this game patched is a matter of utter frustration. I've never experienced such a problem trying to patch a game. Disconnect after disconnect. The patching program is clearly unstable. Do a search for "Age of Conan patching problems" to read more stories.
I think this game had great promise, but failed to live up to it.
Most Immersive Combat and Adventure of any MMO September 20, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've played Age of Conan since beta. Five months after AoC's public debut I still find this game highly addictive. Although Age of Conan still needs more content (especially end game content), I've never played a game that's more immersive, intense and fun.
The system requirements for AoC are rather demanding, but if you can play AoC with its video settings at or near max, you're in for a wild ride.
Funcom, the developers of AoC, released a patch earlier this week (09/17/2008) that introduced the much needed PvP leveling and rules.
I've tried Warhammer Online, but after playing Age of Conan, there's no way I could play a game like WAR. AoC seems light years ahead of WAR in terms of its combat, environments, characters and immersion.
Age of Conan is both a work of art and feat of engineering. Thrilling game.
Don't waste your money September 20, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I waited for a long time for this game to come out and was horribly disappointed by it. More and more bugs instead of less appeared with each patch. The game is no where near finished. I kept getting the impression Funcom ran out of money so they just released the game and figured they would finish it later. I wanted to stick with it but the constant bugs and complete lack of content finally drove me away. I've been playing MMOs since EQ and have beta'ed or played at released at least a dozen - this one wasn't the worst but it was in the top three.
Don't buy this game September 20, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This game is a total load of crap, terrible cities, horrible quest system and to put it simply.... its just not fun - its not fun for conan fans or casual gamers. Save your money, the game will probably collapse.
